Last Chanukah I was living in a new neighborhood, and a little bit sick on my mother’s yahrzeit. I wanted to davin from the Amud, but I also didn’t feel so secure. It turned out as soon as I got to minyan, someone else came to davin for his father’s yahrzeit, and I could hang Kaddish for my mother on his t’fillah.

I know it really is best to davin from the amud for a yahrzeit, but not at the expense of the minyan. You don’t have to be better than anyone else, but you have to be doing it as well as you can!
